40% of Africans (over 330 million people) do not have access to safe drinking water, and half of people living in rural areas lack access. The most serious problem is in Sub-Saharan Africa, where over 320 million people lack access. At this time, Sub-Saharan Africa is the only region in the world not on track to reach 2015 UN Millennium Development Goals.
