Tracy Hawkins 2017Tracy Hawkins

In 2005, Tracy Hawkins traveled to Tanzania where she began her work as a volunteer and founded a small ceramic souvenirs initiative. Due to the great need for clean drinking water in Tanzania, this small project quickly evolved into a larger one manufacturing and distributing ceramic water filters.

In 2007, the Tanzanian NGO, Safe Water Ceramics of East Africa, was established. In 2008, Tracy merged her organization with a similar organization called AguaPure, in the Dominican Republic, to form FilterPure. During her tenure at FilterPure, Tracy continued to support the Tanzania operation while also recruiting volunteers to develop a strategic business plan to expand safe water solutions worldwide. Tracy and her strategic team left FilterPure in 2010 and formed SAFE Water Now to pursue the mission of delivering safe water globally by employing best practices in business, administration and manufacturing.

Tracy Hawkins is a dual degree graduate of Georgia Tech (BSIE 1985) and Valdosta State College (BS Math 1985). Tracy has worked at IBM, Equifax and other companies, primarily in IT, providing systems design and project management.
